The Théâtre de Saint-Maur in Saint-Maur-des-Fossés presents classical and contemporary drama, music, dance, comedy, circus and work for young audiences. Artist residencies support new productions, while workshops, exhibitions, talks and school programmes connect performances with the surrounding community. An independent municipal public establishment was created to manage the theatre in 2016. Its responsibilities expanded in 2018 to include the town's Le Lido and 4 Delta cinemas, bringing live performance and cinema into a shared cultural organisation. Few Paris suburbs possess a stronger musical apparatus than Saint-Maur-des-Fossés, whose regional conservatoire has sent instrumentalists into French orchestras for decades. The town's theatre, set within the loop of the Marne that gives Saint-Maur its shape, is the natural platform for that activity: orchestral and chamber concerts, recitals, opera in concert and a drama season alongside them.
