Sevlievo's sanitary-ware works grew out of a metalworking cooperative founded in 1934, nationalised under the communist regime and rebuilt as a state plant for sanitary fittings; in March 1992 it became a joint venture with American Standard, and a new sanitary ceramics works opened in 1998. Since 2007 it has been the main Bulgarian arm of Ideal Standard International, with some 3,200 employees. It stood behind the town's Easter concert in April 2005.
