The words of Quando, quando, quando are Alberto Testa's. Born in 1927, he became a lyricist of the post-war decades, writing for the Sanremo Festival and the recording industry that grew up around it and supplying texts to Mina among many others. The Tony Renis melody he fitted words to was a Sanremo entry in 1962. He died in Velletri on 19 October 2009. His catalogue ran to something like 1,500 songs, among them Grande, grande, grande, another Tony Renis melody and a Mina record, and he wrote for Italian television entertainment, including the programmes Senza rete and Non stop.
