Микеле Филанти

Filanti spent the autumn of 2011 on tour with the State Opera Rousse's Carmen, a run through the Netherlands and Belgium mounted with Stichting Internationale Opera Producties that took in Heerlen, The Hague, Rotterdam, Utrecht, Zwolle, Breda and Ghent. Among his colleagues on that tour were the baritone Sergio Foresti, the mezzo Carla Dirlikov and Christophe Herrada. Filanti lived at Canzo, above Como, when profiled by La Provincia in 2010. He came to singing at thirty, while also working as a clinical pedagogue, and studied with Vincenzo Spatola in Milan. He sang in the chorus of the Verdi in Milan under Romano Gandolfi and Riccardo Chailly, then took stage work in La traviata, La boheme and Rigoletto. In 2010, one of thirty-five chosen from the two hundred and seventy singers who auditioned, he opened an episode of the Dutch television series Una voce particolare on Nederland 2, hosted by the baritone Ernst Daniel Smid, singing Bartolo's aria La vendetta from Le nozze di Figaro with the Orchestra Particolare under Jan Stulen.
