The Sun Will Shine Again

Jon Lord wrote The Sun Will Shine Again in 2004, to words by Sam Brown, and gave it to Anni-Frid Lyngstad — Frida of ABBA — who had not made a record for eight years; the song was her return, and Lord's own sketch had carried the working title The Canon Song after its debt to Pachelbel. It belongs to the Beyond the Notes sessions. In 2009 he revised it for the singer Kasia Laska, moving it up a fifth into C major, rewriting the string parts and adding flute. Lord's gloss on the text: the glass is half full, even if sometimes with tears.
