Джон Лорд

Lord amplified his Hammond organ through a Marshall amplifier to combine its sound with the electric guitar in Deep Purple. He had studied classical piano from childhood in Leicester, trained as an actor in London and worked as a session player with rhythm-and-blues bands including the Artwoods before co-founding Deep Purple in 1968; Deep Purple in Rock, Machine Head and Made in Japan came out of the years that followed. The Concerto for Group and Orchestra, played with the Royal Philharmonic at the Royal Albert Hall in 1969, brought the rock band and symphony orchestra together, and the Gemini Suite, Sarabande, Pictured Within and the Durham Concerto formed part of his work outside Deep Purple. He left Deep Purple in 2002 to compose full-time, and died in 2012. Malcolm Arnold conducted that first performance at the Albert Hall. To Notice Such Things came late among the concert works, and in 2016 he was inducted with Deep Purple into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, four years after his death.
