Soprano
Biography
Touring with the State Opera Plovdiv from 2003 took Anna Veleva to American dates in Fort Smith, Sioux Falls and Appleton, as well as to Sofia stages, in company with Petya Tsoneva, Orlin Goranov, Vartuhi Sarkisyan and Alexander Krunev. Her studies were divided between the Pancho Vladigerov academy in Sofia and the Mannes College of Music in New York, and her teaching rests on the vocal method of her grandfather, Georgi Zlatev-Cherkin. The American tours carried leading soprano parts in Lucia di Lammermoor, La traviata, Rigoletto and La bohème, and she has sung at Carnegie Hall, the Kennedy Center, Suntory Hall in Tokyo and the National Palace of Culture in Sofia.
