Biography

Boris Statsenko studied in Chelyabinsk and at the Moscow State Conservatory and joined the Bolshoi Theatre in 1990. His Robert in Tchaikovsky's Iolanta at the Dresden Opera Festival in 1993 brought an engagement in Chemnitz, and from 1999 to 2017 he was a member of the Deutsche Oper am Rhein, a house he has remained close to since. Rigoletto, Macbeth, Germont, Scarpia and the title role in Eugene Onegin are among his roles, and he appears as a guest in other European theatres. Nabucco, Iago and Amfortas belong to his repertoire as well, and he has sung at the Arena di Verona.
