Carmen Serrano

The soprano Carmen Serrano sang with State Opera Rousse across its performances of Carmen in Spain in the autumn of 2013, one of the Spanish soloists taken into the Bulgarian company's cast. Born in Priego de Córdoba, she studied with Carlos Hacar at the conservatory in Córdoba and went on to train in Osimo and, in Spanish repertoire, with Ana Higueras, taking distinctions at the Julián Gayarre, Francisco Alonso and Pedro Lavirgen competitions. Her opera debut came in 1992 in La favorita at the Teatro de la Maestranza in Seville beside Alfredo Kraus, and in November 2013 she sang Carmen in Priego with the chorus and orchestra of the Ruse company under Nayden Todorov.
