Bass
Biography
A graduate of the Pancho Vladigerov National Academy of Music in 1991, where he studied with Konstantsa Vachkova, Diman Panchev appeared on stage while still a student, in Mozart's Die Entführung aus dem Serail at the training theatre in Sliven. The bass roles of the Italian, French, German and Russian repertory have occupied him since: Sarastro, Colline, Don Basilio, Ramfis, and King Philip II in the Don Carlos staged at Stara Zagora in 2001, with parts in Nabucco and Turandot beside them. He toured with the Rousse company between 1992 and 2008 — the Netherlands, Germany, Austria, Spain, the United States — and also with State Opera Burgas, where he has long been a soloist, to Switzerland, Austria, Italy and America. He took a first prize at Callosa de Ensarriá in Alicante in 1997. In 2022 the city of Burgas gave him its annual award for art and culture, for his Basilio in the company's Barber of Seville. Osmin was the part in Sliven, and in 1991 he sang Sarastro at the Sofia Opera. Zaccaria, Sparafucile and Timur have joined his list since, and he has sung sacred music with the Philippopolis chamber choir.
