Tenor
Biography
A baritone for the first part of his career, Francesco Medda had more than twenty leading roles behind him before changing category and making his tenor debut in 2006, as Cavaradossi. Otello, Canio and Calaf followed. A scholarship from the Amici del Loggione of La Scala took him to Franco Corelli, and he has won prizes at international competitions. He teaches vocal technique in opera academies and masterclasses. He studied at the Luigi Cherubini Conservatory in Florence and took his diploma at the Giuseppe Verdi Academy in Parma, afterwards working with Gianni Raimondi and at Carlo Bergonzi's academy in Busseto. Manrico, Radamès and Don José belong to the same repertoire, sung in Italy, Japan, Russia, South Africa and Canada, and he has taught singing and diction at Mir Opera.
