Baritone
Biography
Trained in London at the Guildhall School of Music and Drama and in Glasgow at the Royal Scottish Academy, the Belgian baritone Kris Belligh worked with Felicity Lott and Thomas Allen and was a prizewinner of the Armel International Opera Competition. He has sung Count Almaviva in Le nozze di Figaro for Longborough Festival Opera and appeared at La Monnaie in Brussels, and new music has been part of his work — premières of pieces by Emily Howard and Philip Venables sit beside the Mozart, Rossini and Donizetti roles and the French repertory. His concert repertoire includes Messiah, the Bach Passions and the Mozart Requiem in cathedrals across Europe, West Side Story in concert with the Accademia Nazionale di Santa Cecilia in Rome under Antonio Pappano. He has also sung at the Pacific Music Festival in Japan. Figaro in Le nozze di Figaro, the title role of Don Giovanni, Marcello and Papageno are his as well, and he has appeared with Dutch National Opera and English National Opera; Tansy Davies is another composer whose work he has given first.
