Composer
Biography
Concert music, film, theatre, jazz and traditional idioms all sit inside Minko Lambov's working life. Trained as a pianist and composer, he appears as both soloist and conductor and writes for symphony and string orchestra, chamber ensembles and multimedia. He wrote a Double Concerto for violin, piano and orchestra. The violinist Svetlin Roussev and the pianist Yeol Eum Son have taken part in his projects. He also scores for the screen, and founds and conducts his own ensembles. He is the son of the composer Kiril Lambov, studied at the Pipkov school and the Pancho Vladigerov National Academy of Music, and took a master's degree in conducting and composition at New Bulgarian University with Georgi Dimitrov. For Svetlin Roussev he wrote the violin concerto Camposelice - Passion fatale, named after the player's Stradivari, and later the concert piece Quartinella; his other works include the pop opera The Fisherman and His Soul, the ballet The Tempest, the tone poem Golden Age and My Prayer on a poem of Botev. He contributed music to Ludmil Staykov's film The Khan and the Empire, alongside other composers.
