Baritone
Biography
Sergio Foresti took degrees in piano and singing at the Orazio Vecchi institute in Modena and a distinction in vocal chamber music at the Luigi Cherubini Conservatory in Florence, and made his operatic debut in 1998 as Alcandro in Vivaldi's L'Olimpiade under Rinaldo Alessandrini. Born in 1968, he has worked at the centre of the Baroque and Classical repertory — Monteverdi, Vivaldi, Handel, Cimarosa, Salieri and Mozart — in long collaborations with René Jacobs and Alessandrini, and with Jordi Savall, Fabio Biondi, Ottavio Dantone and Giovanni Antonini. Plutone in L'Orfeo, Almaviva, Leporello, Publio, Escamillo, Germont and Ford have taken him to the Staatsoper Berlin, the Bavarian State Opera, La Scala, the San Carlo, the Theater an der Wien, the Teatro Real and La Monnaie, and to the Styriarte, Innsbruck and Utrecht early music festivals; for some fifteen years he also sang the bass parts in the Renaissance ensemble Concerto Italiano. In the autumn of 2011, in an unusual detour from that world, he spent several weeks in Bizet, touring the Netherlands and Belgium with State Opera Rousse's Carmen beside Carla Dirlikov, Kris Belligh, Michele Filanti and Christophe Herrada.
