Biography
Valerio Zelli was the newcomer in O.R.O. when the Florentine band came together in 1993, sharing the singing with Mauro Mengali over a trio of Mario Manzani, Cesare Chiodo and Alfredo Golino. Their song Vivo per\... won Sanremo Giovani in 1995 and carried the group to the main festival the following year, where Quando ti senti sola placed fourth. That song then had a second life which eclipsed the first: reworked with new words by Luigi "Gatto" Panceri as Vivo per lei — a love song addressed to music itself rather than to a person — it was recorded as a duet by Andrea Bocelli and Giorgia and travelled far beyond Italy. Zelli and Mengali were the last of the original line-up, keeping the group at work until 2019.
