Bass-baritone
Biography
Escamillo at the Opéra Royal de Wallonie and the title part of Don Giovanni for Opera Colorado sit within a repertoire that reaches from the Baroque to the heavier dramatic roles. The Ukrainian-American bass-baritone Vitali Rozynko trained at the Oberlin Conservatory, then at the Eastman School, where his master's degree was awarded with distinction, and finally on the opera programme of the Royal Academy of Music in London. He has appeared with Santa Fe Opera — where he was an apprentice in 1995 — Boston Lyric Opera and the Nederlandse Reisopera, and at the Concertgebouw, Wigmore Hall and Tanglewood, working with Seiji Ozawa, Colin Davis, Vladimir Jurowski and Richard Hickox. He is Salvatore in Hickox's recording of Menotti's The Saint of Bleecker Street and takes a bass part in the Dunedin Consort's Samson. He teaches at the Atelier Lyrique de Dordogne.
