The orchestra was entirely secure — one may even say it played above its usual standard. … the greatest credit for it belongs to the conductor Nayden Todorov from Bulgaria. Energetic, secure, precise and, above all, with finely crafted details, he led the orchestra with sovereign authority… The second, more complex task was to carry the whole performance. And he did so with discipline and suggestive power…
