Biography
Daniel Ostretzov's Wagner roles at the Sofia Opera include Loge in Das Rheingold, the Steersman in Der fliegende Holländer, and Lohengrin, which he sang for the first time on 20 October 2024 in Plamen Kartalov's production. He was taught by two Bulgarian tenors of an older generation, Nikola Nikolov and Kaludi Kaludov, and by Lilyana Zhablenska, and in 2008 studied at the Boris Christoff Academy in Rome with Mirella Parutto and Antonio Boyer. Away from Wagner his roles run from Count Almaviva and Don Ottavio to Alfredo, Pinkerton and Jason in Cherubini's Médée, and he has appeared in Italy, Austria, Germany, the Netherlands, Denmark and the United States.
