Biography
Delyan Slavov made his stage debut in 2003, as Ferrando in Il trovatore at the State Opera Burgas, and appeared in the same year as the Commendatore in Don Giovanni at the National Opera in Sofia. He took his master's in opera singing at the Pancho Vladigerov National Academy of Music and specialised in Rome in 2008–09, where his teachers included Renata Scotto. In 2006 he began making guest appearances with the Macedonian Opera and Ballet in Skopje; in 2008 he appeared at the Bel Canto festival in Montreal alongside June Anderson, under Kent Nagano. He became a soloist of the Plovdiv State Opera in 2009 and of the State Opera Burgas in 2013. The repertory he carries runs from Don Basilio and Leporello to Philip II in Don Carlo and Timur in Turandot, with the Mozart and Verdi Requiems on the concert side. The Rome studies were at the Boris Christoff Academy, and Zaccaria and Sparafucile stand beside the other bass parts he carries. In 2014 he took second prize at the Boris Christoff international competition for young opera singers.
