Soprano
Biography
Born in Vicenza, Silvia Dalla Benetta has made the harder end of bel canto her territory, with Handel and Rossini's serious operas behind it and the young Verdi, Alfano and the more lyric Puccini ahead. The turn towards dramatic Verdi came at the Verdi Festival in Parma, with Il corsaro in 2008 and then I Lombardi; her Lady Macbeth took the Premio Abbiati. Abigaille, Elvira in Ernani at the Lithuanian National Opera, Semiramide in Nice, Donna Anna in Pisa, Fiorilla in Catania, Norma in Zagreb and in Charleroi and Micaëla at the Teatro Carlo Felice belong to her list, as does a long association with the Rossini in Wildbad festival. She teaches at the Venice Conservatory, is principal teacher of the academy of the Teatro Regio di Parma, and in 2026 took the artistic direction of the first Bergonzi Festival at Busseto. Gulnara is another of her parts, and the concert platform brings her the Verdi Requiem, Beethoven's Ninth and sacred works of Mozart and Rossini.
