Dancing Queen

Dancing Queen was first performed in public on 18 June 1976, at a televised gala in Stockholm on the eve of the wedding of King Carl XVI Gustaf and Silvia Sommerlath. The recording had begun almost a year earlier under the working title Boogie, built on a rhythm Benny Andersson took from George McCrae's Rock Your Baby. Released that August, it reached number one in more than a dozen countries and remains ABBA's only chart-topping single in the United States. Anni-Frid Lyngstad is said to have wept on first hearing the finished mix.
