Mamma Mia

Mamma Mia was recorded for the album ABBA in 1975 and was not intended as a single until the group's Australian label insisted; it went to number one there for ten weeks and forced a British release, where it also reached the top. Benny Andersson built the introduction on a marimba figure. The title later attached itself to the stage musical assembled from ABBA's catalogue in 1999, and to the films that followed, which is how the song reached audiences born long after it was made.
