Emilia Ivanova

Schooled first in Kharkiv and then in Sofia with Blagovesta Karnobatlova-Dobreva, Emilia Ivanova reached the Sofia Opera in 2008 through the New Voices scheme while still a student, and made her Spoleto debut as Gilda, where she had taken second prize. She won the Bulgarian round of BBC Cardiff Singer of the World in 2009 and reached the Operalia final at La Scala in 2010. Three seasons as a soloist of the Bonn Opera followed, from 2010 to 2013, with engagements in the Netherlands, Poland, Russia and Italy and masterclasses with Renato Bruson and Teresa Berganza. Her repertoire includes Adina and Amina, alongside sacred and symphonic concert works. She has worked as a soloist of the State Opera in Stara Zagora.
