The Magic of Love

The Magic of Love was written by Lionel Richie with Walter Afanasieff and the lyricists Alan and Marilyn Bergman, and reached its widest audience through the duet Richie sang with Luciano Pavarotti at the Pavarotti & Friends charity concerts in Modena. The arrangement sets a pop voice against a tenor and an orchestra, in the format those concerts established through the 1990s. Russell Watson later recorded it with the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra. It has circulated since mainly as a crossover concert item rather than as part of Richie's own album repertoire.
