E vui durmiti ancora

E vui durmiti ancora is a Sicilian song with words by the Catania poet Giovanni Formisano and music by Gaetano Emanuel Calì, written in the early years of the twentieth century. The singer keeps watch through the night beneath his beloved's window while she sleeps on; the dialect text and the wide, slow melodic arch made it a favourite of tenors, and it travelled far beyond Sicily through the recordings of Gigli, Di Stefano and later Bocelli. Calì, a Catanese composer and conductor, is remembered almost entirely for this one song.
