Vivere

Vivere was written by Bixio in 1936 as the title song of Guido Brignone's film of the same name, with words by Bixio Cherubini, and was sung in the film by Tito Schipa. The tenor's recording carried it well beyond Italian cinema audiences, and it became one of the few Italian songs of the decade to establish itself in the international tenor repertoire alongside the Neapolitan canzoni. Bixio composed for more than a hundred films between the early sound period and the 1950s, usually working directly with the singer rather than the director.
