Time to Say Goodbye

Francesco Sartori wrote the melody and Lucio Quarantotto the words of Con te partirò, which Andrea Bocelli sang at the Sanremo festival in 1995. The following year a bilingual version was made for the farewell fight of the German boxer Henry Maske, with Sarah Brightman joining Bocelli and the refrain rendered as Time to Say Goodbye. Broadcast to an audience of millions on the night Maske lost, it became one of the best-selling singles ever released in Germany and set the pattern for the crossover repertoire of the following decade.
