Non ti scordar di me

Non ti scordar di me was written in 1935 for the film of the same title, in which Beniamino Gigli played a tenor and sang it; Ernesto De Curtis supplied the music and Domenico Furnò the Italian words. The song is a late work in a career that had begun with Neapolitan-dialect songs in the 1890s, and unlike most of De Curtis's output it is in standard Italian rather than Neapolitan. Gigli's recording carried it internationally, and it entered the standard tenor recital repertoire alongside the composer's earlier Torna a Surriento.
